Vibram FiveFingers V-Alpha

The V-Alfa by Vibram is a successor to the KSO EVO, starting from what was already a very capable shoe and improving its fit, materials and sole, and aims to be the best all-round shoe in the Vibram line.

The V-Alpha is the ideal shoe for natural training outdoors and is 100% faithful to the philosophy of Vibram FiveFingers: a shoe that protects the foot, but which allows for sensory perception of the ground, proprioception and dexterity. In general, V-Alpha shoes will require much more "from you" in your run than most other shoes due to their incredibly minimalist nature.

Sole

Vibram improved the old EL-X/KSO EVO "max feel" rubber sole with a new Megagrip sole for the V-Alpha. This sole seeks to offer you more adherence and more durability. It also ensures you more traction on wet or slippery surfaces, making it the best choice for running on wet terrain. Not only that, but its excellent grip properties are maintained even if you're on dry terrain, as its tread blocks are more aggressive but still soft enough for road use or if you're more of a gym person. The Vibram Megagrip sole offers the best combination of grip and durability.

The MEGAGRIP's sole traction cleats are much more aggressive, with tons of larger cleats towards the heel and ball, and smaller cleats around the toe and center of the foot. This new sole will give you a greater ability to feel the ground. You can still feel small details when doing your favorite activities and this level of sensitivity really helps improve your technique and running.

Vibram has manufactured a new superior 50/50 wool/synthetic blend to improve breathability and reduce odor. This upper is highly breathable and with much more odour control, even after running your feet will not feel damp or hot. Plus this new mesh is much more durable. It is not a water specific shoe (like a river or a waterlogged road), but the V-Alpha dries out quite quickly. Although Vibram also makes the Signa dedicated to water sports and beach shoes.

Adjust

V-Alpha has a better fit with its wool blend and less need for extra structure to keep it on your feet, making it the most comfortable Vibram shoe to date. The closed-loop bungee system and Velcro lace system makes a return and with some improvements. The Velcro strip on both the top of the shoe and its pull tab are larger than the previous models and it is very easy to use.
