Marina's pregnancy and Leon's strength

Leon is a 6 year old boy who travels many kilometres.

He is an adventurer who kicks the mountains based on perseverance, effort and self-improvement.

With the age he is, it is not appropriate that he can walk so much.

I know many children who, halfway there, would be complaining, screaming for the sofa and the PlayStation 5.

His mother speaks proudly of her champion:

"He needs it," Marina says, "it's his scape rout."

He has special needs because of problems in childbirth. And perhaps because of this, because he has had to fight for his life from birth, his strength is not appropriate for his age.

Leon has always worn barefoot shoes.
His aunt, a physiotherapist who lives in London, recommended them to him.

And his mother says that being barefoot and wearing minimalist shoes has helped him develop his coordination and become more aware of his movement and balance.

So much that,

if he uses a conventional shoe: with heels, thicker soles, less flexible... then he has to spend a few days re-educating his gait.

This is a tangible test for Marina.

She notices how the change of footwear affects her negatively, so for her there is no debate about the benefits of minimalist footwear.

She continues talking and comments that in her youth she was not so lucky for her feet.

She went into minimalist shoes late in her pregnancy, but as a child she had problems, she was told she had flat feet.

In pregnancy, her feet grew a size and a half.

She says:

"For me, the elastin and the weight made my feet bigger.
Discovering minimalist shoes was find the paradise!"

Minimalist shoes were key for her, first for her pregnancy and then for Leon.

For one thing, they are shoes that are wider at the toes part. Something so basic, but impossible to find.

Wearing narrow shoes in pregnancy must be like wearing a belly girdle.

Just thinking about it makes me short of breath.

On the other hand, they don't have heels.

Pregnancy changes the curve of the back in the lower back.

The weight of the belly tilts the body forward and, to maintain balance, the body 'curves' backwards, increasing the curve of the back in that area.

This is the same thing that happens when you wear shoes with heels: your body leans forward and, in order to avoid falling, it curves backwards.

So, if you are pregnant and wear shoes with heels, you have every chance of getting sciatica pain.

It happened to my wife.

If she tried to wear shoes with heels, even if it was only 1 cm, after a few metres she felt the pain and had to change to barefoot shoes.

Well.

Marina and Leon.

Feminine and masculine.

Mother and son.

And both are clear about it.

So much so that they even wear the same shoe.

Leon is delighted with his Merrell Trail Glove 5 for children.

And because they have Velcro, he can put them on by himself easily.

And she with their Merrell Trail Glove, which are now in their sixth version: Merrell Trail Glove 6.

Whether you're a child, adult or pregnant, your health starts with your feet.
