Taking off your shoes in the middle of the street is not just a women thing.
Let me explain.
On more than one occasion, I have seen women walking barefoot in the street with high heels in hand. After a party, wedding or similar.
Not to go too far, my wife herself.
But the other day it wasn't heels, and it wasn't women, it was a group of construction workers.
I was having coffee with Ángel and on the other side of the bar some men were doing the same.
They were all wearing safety shoes, except for one who was wearing sport shoes during the break.
As we finished our coffee we heard:
- Come on Manuel, put your boots on, we're going back to the scaffolding.
- No way, I'm going in my sneakers, I can't stand on boots anymore.
- No way Manuel, if the boss arrives we're going to have a discuss!
- I don't care, I can't carry that pain in my feet anymore. Besides, he doesn't come in the afternoons and I'll take risk it.
This problem is more common than you think.
Rare is the week that we don't get a call or an email from someone complaining about their safety shoes.
They say they have to wear it because the company gives it to them, but they don't want it, even for free.
One customer commented that due to foot pains he had been given medical leave.
Unbeliable!
Medical leave for foot problems!
And in Marchena I have two friends who, when you look at their feet, you'll put a face like you're eating a lemon.
Their big toe is so deformed, with such a pronounced bunion, that it looks like a rooster's spur.
And all this for wearing a shoe:
Stiff.
Narrow.
With a heel.
Heavy.
..... and hours of work.
The perfect combination to get a foot pain all day long.
If working is hard, imagine doing it with foot pain.
In the film The Da Vinci Code, a monk uses a sharp contraption around his leg as an instrument of self-torture.
'Silicio' he calls it.
Nowadays we don't have to use it, we have shoes.
Here is an example of a typical foot abuser. With its pointed last and heel.
After going through this, some feet will have to go to the chiropodist.
Others will be fine with a change of footwear and a correct toes.
And many will be in time to avoid deforming their feet as long as they wear the following safety shoes:
Of course, they meet the highest S3 safety standards.
It wasn't easy to find. We have spent years searching and analysing what was on the market.
But as the saying goes: Better late than never.
Enjoy!
