It happens a lot. Someone calls and the first thing they say is:
“I'm looking for a shoe for my mother, it's not for me.
I want to give them to her as a gift, but she has delicate feet.”
It happened to María, she gave her mother a pair of barefoot shoes thinking she had hit the nail on the head.
She believed that when she gave the gift, her mother would react by saying:
“How beautiful, my dear, I love them”
But no.
The first thing the woman did upon opening the box was to frown and say:
“They're too wide... they seem for young people.”
Two days later, —the one who said she didn't like the shoes— hasn't taken them off even to go to the bathroom.
What happened?
The usual.
Comfort rules.
This was the message she sent:
“Good morning, just to tell you that my 88-year-old mother did not like the shoes, she said they were too wide and for young people, but she doesn't take them off because they are very comfortable.
She told me she's going to look for some for the summer.
Thanks for the recommendation”
88 years old.
A lifetime thinking that the right shoes were narrow, rigid, and with that small heel, but so harmful.
She never thought that the pain in her feet was because of her shoes.
“With what they cost me, how could they be bad?”
A phrase I often hear in the store.
And it's true, at first, barefoot footwear may raise doubts.
“Are these shoes really going to work for me?”
But the moment you put them on, it's like a click.
There's no turning back.
Feet are very smart. They say they're masters.
They know what they need and, when they finally find space to move, breathe, and not feel squeezed, they want nothing else.
This is even more important as years go by.
Feet widen, bunions appear, and any discomfort, no matter how small, becomes a torment.
That's where minimalist shoes become a game-changer.
In fact, it's not rare that, after trying them, people who thought this footwear wasn't for them end up looking for a second pair. Like this mother who now wants some for the
summer.
And it's that barefoot footwear has no age.
It is so.
From children taking their first steps to mothers who start with reservations but end up convinced.
And all because they are designed with a simple but revolutionary premise: Respect the natural shape of the foot.
With a flexible, thin sole, no drop (i.e., no height difference between the heel and the toe), and enough space for your toes to move freely.
Ostrich, what things!
Walking as if you had nothing on your feet, infinite comfort, balance, and greater mobility.
Well.
The shoes that María gave to her mother are the Mustang Free, designed by Dr. Juanjo López.
Versatile, modern shoes with a fresh and current design.
The Mustang Free for women are a safe bet.
And if your mother is part of the club of sensitive feet and we're talking about metatarsalgia, neuromas, or just delicate feet, there are models that go a step further, like the Lems Primal 3, which provides that extra protection without renouncing the barefoot philosophy.
So far.
If you still have doubts, do as María did: gift your mother a pair of barefoot shoes and let them speak for themselves.
She will thank you. And you will be at peace, knowing that you are taking care of the health of those you love most.
Truly wonderful.
Health starts at your feet.
