Can Your Mother with Osteoarthritis Wear Barefoot Shoes?

I know you're already aware of the benefits of barefoot shoes.

You use them, and for your child, it's non-negotiable. You know that with this type of footwear, they will grow up with strong and well-formed feet.

But let's get to the point:

Can someone with arthritis, torn menisci, bunions, and severe pain benefit from this type of footwear?

You see, they don't talk about this on TV, nor is it viral on TikTok, but it's the day-to-day reality for many people.

Luisa told me.

She says:

"My mother is 61 years old, has controlled arthritis in her knees, both menisci torn, and constant pains in the buttock/hip/back of the legs area.

She also has bunions.

She has worn high-heeled shoes all her life because she is very short, and it made her feel better.

The last 10 years have seen a decline in her mobility.

She was very agile, but now she walks slowly, avoids slopes, and even uses super-cushioned slippers at home.

And although that relieves her in the short term, in reality, it's just numbing her body."

Thisisso.

What happens when someone with a condition like this wears cushioned sneakers?

The relief is immediate.

I understand.

But there's a catch. The more comfortable you make everything, the more you rust.

Muscles don't work, joints get no stimulus, and what seemed like the solution ends up being a burden.

The body is very clever: If you don't use me, I shut down

Because of this, this woman's musculature is weakening rapidly, and her mobility issues are only worsening.

So, what do I do?

You can't stop the biological clock, but you can slow it down with the right stimuli.

And here, the right footwear can make a difference.

However, you can't just put your mother in a pair of FiveFingers and expect her to start running marathons tomorrow.

The transition must be gentle and tailored to her situation.

What she needs is footwear that provides:

  • Moderate protection: So she doesn't feel like she's walking on pebbles, but still lets her feel the ground.
  • Wide toe box: That lets her toes (and the bunions) breathe, because there's no worse enemy than a shoe that pinches.
  • Interchangeable insoles: One with a rear elevation to start and another flat one for when she's ready to make the jump.
  • Flexibility: If the shoe doesn't move with the foot, we're in trouble.

And all this is met by the new Mustang Free.

These sneakers let you feel the ground, and if you want more protection, you just have to add the transition insole that it comes with.

Plus, they're wide, won't cause bunions, and are very flexible, so you don't lose a drop of mobility.

And you don't have to wait for the sales to buy them. For less than 60€, they're yours.

In two designs: for Women and Men.

P.S. If you really want to help your mother, add a little movement.

Some basic exercises to strengthen the quadriceps, glutes, and feet.

Because the more you use your joints, the longer they last. And the more you take care of your feet, the better everything else responds.
