School shoes that leave scars: my experience and how to protect your child

In my childhood, I had a painful experience with school shoes.

More than painful, it was traumatic, and now you'll see why.

The thing is that it left a deep mark on my memory, and even though the years have passed, I still remember it.

You know, that memory that no matter how many years go by, it doesn't go away.

And who knows, maybe that experience has brought me here today, to talk to you about footwear and its consequences.

I don't know about you, but what I liked most about school were the summer holidays.

Those were days when time stood still, when coming home and feeling the coolness in the playground was like entering an oasis, a place of peace where the heat didn't suffocate and everything smelled of freedom.

In the afternoons, while my mother took a nap, I would go outside with my brother.

We would spend hours running around, exploring nooks and crannies or waiting for a kestrel chick to fall from the nests in the nearby towers.

We didn't feel the heat, just the excitement and curiosity of a world that was becoming too small for us.

But September always came and it was like a cold shower. Going back to school was like going back to a prison, trapped within its walls, far from the freedom of summer.

I remember the shoes my mother bought me in a shop in Seville.

In a September, making a financial effort, but with the idea in mind that her son would go to school well.

They were very pretty school shoes, navy blue, made of leather and like all shoes at that time, they had a small heel.

I loved them.

But there was a big problem with those beautiful shoes.

Whoever made them didn't take into account that children play.

And I, like all the children in my class, spent my break playing football on a grass pitch.

What happened?

With use, the heel cap wore out and my mother took them to the shoemaker to fix them: "A new heel cap and they were as good as new".

That's where the problem began.

The tips used by the shoemaker stuck out from inside the shoe and dug into my heel, causing bleeding wounds.

When walking, their tips didn't bother me, only when running, when my heel hit the ground hard.

It didn't matter how many times we took them to the cobbler. Eventually, the top would sag and the toes would protrude again.

Almost 40 years have passed, and that episode is still a memory that visits me from time to time.

Maybe that's why, when I discovered barefoot shoes, I didn't hesitate for a second.

The best thing about this story is that times have changed, shoes have evolved back to their origins, and today you can choose healthy shoes to spare your child the aches and pains I went through.

And that's exactly what the new Mustang Free and Dr. Juanjo López's respectful shoes for children do.

It gives their feet just the right protection so your kids can grow and move without shoes that limit them.

Imagine your child running around the park, climbing the swings, exploring every nook and cranny.

No pain, no annoying toes, just the joy of footwear that respects the natural development of their feet.

No heels, no wide, flexible heels, no rigid insoles.

Just pure barefoot, so that your feet grow healthy and free, as they should.

Yavestruz.

The best barefoot shoes for school.
