Many people think that in order to use respectful footwear they need a transition time.
This is not true. Let me give you an example.
Imagine you decide to eat healthier.
More vegetables, fruits, fresh meat and fish...
You don't say:
—I have to make a transition. I'm going to give up biscuits little by little.
You simply stop eating doughnuts to eat an apple.
The same thing happens to your feet.
When you take off shoes that squeeze your toes, that deviate your big toe, that change the curves of your back, that change your centre of gravity, that put more pressure on one part of your knee, that take away your circulation, that prevent your bones from getting stronger, ...... you get better, healthier.
Like your body with the apple.
This is true for everything other than running:
Working, walking, going to the gym....
Running is another matter.
It is necessary to make a transition, this mean use them little by little.
Like when you join a gym to lift weights, you don't lift 100 kg on the first day, do you?
Although if you want minimalist running shoes, I recommend you to invest first in a healthy shoe for everyday use.
Think about it.
Where will you get the most benefit from your shoes, the 3-5 hours/week of running or the 40 hours of work?
The more hours you are wearing a healthy shoe, the more your feet will be training.
By having more mobility and more contact with the ground, more blood will get to them, muscles will get stronger and feet will get stronger.
Every day will be your best workout.
One of the best shoes for this are the Lems Nine2five.
The name is already a sign of intent, from 9 to 5. The office working hours.
In mini boot version: Lems Boulder Mid
So you can train without even noticing, just by changing your shoes.
Health starts with your feet.

Pd. If you are going to run with a minimalist/healthy/respectful shoe I recommend you to read the Guide to Learning to Run, where I talk about running technique and specific exercises for running.
