If your child plays football, this is of interest to you.
Because there is nothing worse for parents than seeing their child dragging his leg on the pitch.
This was told to me by a physio who asked me about football boots for children.
He says he has a lot of children with problems and blames it on the football boots.
The man is absolutely right.
The big brands don't design football boots for your kids. They just make small sized boots for Messi, Ronaldo, Griezman and other footbal players.
But Messi's feet are not your son's feet. He already has them formed and surely in his childhood he did not use the orthopaedic boot with which many children play football.
Do you know what Ronaldo's football boots look like? (Substitute Ronaldo for any footballer and you'll get the same thing)
Narrow.
With a super stiff sole.
And with reinforcements in the heel.
I'm not going to talk about the studs. But anything less than round is gambling with your kid's knee. If his foot gets stuck on the ground, it's his knee that pays the bill.
I repeat because it's important:
Narrow, stiff and reinforced.
Their feet:
Wide, flexible and very mobile.
In other words, you put the opposite of what they are.
Maybe you think that he is playing football, that's why the boots should be like that.
Starting from the premise that this is not true, the first thing you have to take into account is your child's health, and this starts with his feet.
There is no other. Unless you want the tree to grow crooked.
And if I sound exaggerated, you only have to look at the feet of 10 year olds to see things you'd expect in 40 year old women.
Many with crowded toes, riding on top of each other and even some with the beginnings of bunions!!.
I have to pause to avoid saying something barbaric, but the matter is more serious than it seems.
Because after this, they will go to the chiropodist and some will try to solve the issue with an insole.
Because if your child ends up with a foot problem, they won't want to move. And without movement there is no life.
I'm still with the physiotherapist. He said that children from 8 to 11 years old came to him with overloads.
Others with pain in their heels. That soon after starting to run they have to stop because of the pain.
And the worst was one who ran with his foot turned inwards. He ran as if he were lame.
This last one never leaves my mind.
Because one day your son will stop playing football.
And on that day you will be willing to exchange his Messi boots for new feet.
And you, you won't find a shop where to buy them.
That's why, and only for that reason, he should wear shoes that help him to strengthen his feet and their full development.
Even if they are not worn by Messi.
Even if they are not football shoes.
Shoes for jumping, playing, running, climbing trees, and everything else that isn't football:
The first thing is not to hurt him.
Health starts with your feet.

Pd. It's OK to play 3-4 hours a week in football boots. I'm talking about the rest of the day, when they are still used as everyday shoes.
