A few days ago on the promenade of La Carihuela I saw something that has to do with running posture and getting old.
Let me tell you about it.
It was early in the morning and hundreds of people were active.
Some walking and others running.
It is a typical summer image that is repeated year after year.
I look at those who are running.
It's hard to find a straight one.
They all bend from the waist.
Some of them in an exaggerated way.
If they stumble, they're sure to stick their heads in the ground.
Like the Tower of Pisa, but in motion.
I look at their feet.
They're all wearing heeled shoes.
Or drop, if you prefer the technical word.
And the higher the heel, higher the inclination.
The relationship is direct.
It doesn't end there.
What do they do when they finish running or walking?
They move from their shoes to their mobile phone.
More inclination.
In this case from the neck.
And if you get depressed?
You also lean. On yourself, looking for your own refuge.
More hump.
Like Notredame, but with a smartphone.
Everything leads to losing your righteousness.
Different situations, but the same result.
We lose our uprightness and tend towards inclination, towards old age.
Ok, I continue.
I'm still on the promenade, watching the people running.
I can't see any feet, they are hidden inside their shoes.
Nor anyone running barefoot or in minimalist shoes.
More than half an hour has passed and I'm out of coffee. The girl at the bar has been looking at me for a long time with a face like:
"if you're not going to drink, leave the table free".
I feel uncomfortable and make a gesture to get up.
And suddenly I see him.
Everything happens so fast.
I stand still, as if I had seen a ghost.
He passes at a good pace, with a cheerful cadence of steps.
Torso straight from the hips.
No inclination.
And his footwear?
Sandals.
No heels.
Minimalist.
A pair of huaraches.
I don't know exactly if they were the Enix 080s
or the Pies Sucios Simna Zip
But they were flat or 0 drop.
Want to be younger?
Don't bend at the waist.
Don't bend your neck, don't bend your torso.
You get old when you do it.
And when you run or walk, do it in shoes without a drop.
An old person with a straight posture when walking is less old.
Health starts with your feet.
